Dr. Sharon Bakalash is an experienced ophthalmic surgeon with over two decades of proven leadership in clinical and scientific ophthalmic medicine in the Biotech and MedTech industries. As a consultant, she assists in shaping development strategies and facilitating pipeline enrichment through both internal and external innovation.

As the head of ophthalmic medical affairs at Astellas she is at the forefront of the use of Ai in ophthalmology.in an effort to initiate collaborations between industry, research and clinicians to advance the use of Ai in Ophthalmology, she founded the first AI summit in Geographic Atrophy in 2024.
